The Social Forum is a place where you are able to speak to your fellow coursemates about pretty much anything, course-related or not. Tutors do not have access to the Social Forum but Student Services monitor the forum to answer any queries students may have.
The Social Forum can be found on your Moodle Dashboard under 'My Courses'.

The screenshot below shows the Academic Forum, but the same method applies for other forums, and for subscribing to a forum.
You can subscribe to a forum using the “settings” wheel at the top right of the forum. You can subscribe to a post using the little slider at the side of each thread. See both in the screenshot below.
