Grade Parameters and Component Weighting

Modified on Thu, 18 Aug 2022 at 03:15 PM

You will find all the relevant guidelines and marking criteria on the Instructions and Resources page on Moodle or in your course-specific Student Handbook.

Your tutors are given the same guidelines and marking criteria to assess your work.

Component Weighting

The components of a module are not weighted equally and may vary depending on your course.

Component

Weighting

Academic Forum60%
Reflective Portfolio10%
Module Assignment(s)
30% (for a group OR individual activity)

Classification Parameters

In each module students must achieve a final percentage of over 40% otherwise it is likely the student must resit the Module. The students' percentage for each module corresponds with a classification.

Grade Bracket
Distinction70 - 100%
Merit60 - 69%
Pass50 - 59%
Condonable Fail40 - 49%
Fail
0 - 39%

Feedback on your work

The purpose of feedback is to help you understand how your mark is derived and to highlight areas for improvement. You will be given feedback continuously throughout your course; this can be informal, such as a verbal comment from your tutor on how well you have done in a class-based activity (formative feedback).

Feedback helps you to understand what you need to do to succeed in your assessed work. You will receive more formal written or verbal feedback on your assessed work (summative feedback) when you receive your marks for that work.
