Grading Parameters and Classifications - University of Buckingham

Modified on Wed, 21 Aug at 4:42 PM

Students are able to view the marking guidance for all assessment types by accessing the Instructions and Resources page. Each assessment element on every module is linked to the grading rubric for that activity. Please keep in mind that 10% of students' work - randomly chosen - is double-marked by a second tutor to ensure consistency across modules and tutors. In addition, University moderators and External Examiners may review work. Grade disputes are resolved by the Programme Lead.

All PgDip modules for the majority of UoB-Learna programmes are assessed on the following:

  • Academic Forum - 40%
  • End of Module Exam - 30%
  • Module Activity - 20%
  • Reflective Journal - 10%

The eMBA in Healthcare is assessed based on the following:

  • Academic Forum - 60%
  • Module Activity - 30%
  • Reflective Journal - 10%

Modules for the second year of the MSc have a different marking format, which is available on the main module page on Moodle.

Overall Classification Parameters

70%+           Distinction

60-69%        Merit

50-59%        Pass

0-49%          Fail

If students receive less than 50% in a module, they will be invited to resit the components they have failed. All students receive one free resit but additional resits may incur further fees, and resits may be capped at 50%. For more information, please reach out to the Student Records Team.
